Very nice to hear about the forthcoming summit. I am the project head of the Kloop.kg web portal, which is the unique indigenous blogs-platform in the Kyrgyz Republic.

I would like to see as many of our young bloggers on the summit as possible. What are the requirements of the participation?

In few days we will have all details about application procedure and date of the Summit and we will inform all interested Organizations and Individual Young Person dealing with MEDIA…

My organisation would be very interested in such a collaboration. Kindly pls email me further details!

Media Education Centre will be Organizer of the 3rd International Youth Media Summit will be held in Belgrade 20th to 27th August 2008.

International Youth Media Summit was founded by Ms. Evelyn Seubert from Cleveland High School USA and Ms. Aileen Marshal from South Lanarkshire Council in Scotland. During July 21-30, 2006, the first summit was held in LA presented by ‘Listen Up!’ and ‘Learning for Life’ as well as being mainly funded by IRMAS Charitable Foundation and HealthNet. Second International Youth Media Summit was in Sydney, Australia, 1st to 7th July 2007.

This program is exclusively designed to provide Skill and Professional Development as well as familiarizing the young participants with codes and standards of Media. Also, provide media platform for young adults to express and present the seven significant issues relating to them globally:

Racism | Violence | Poverty | Youth Empowerment | Women Empowerment | Health | Environment

All delegates chose an issue group, and when in Belgrade they worked with others in their issue group to:

• Create resolutions of action to present to the United Nations and their home countries.

• Create public service announcements that will encourage other teens to become actively involved in creating change.

• Share their past successes with each other, including videos, collaborative projects, work at other teen summits and with other organizations.

• Plan FUTURE work TOGETHER through internaTIONal media exchange projects.

I’m SO looking forward to next years Summit! Not only will we see many bright new faces, but some familiar ones as well!
I don’t know how good was the Summit in Sydney (I’m sure it was awesome!), but I remember last years Summit in Los Angeles was a dream come true. I participated in the most wonderful group in the universe: Claire and Robyn from Scotland, Connor from Ireland, Josh from Australia, Alinda from Bolivia, Reina from Japan and Theodore from USA alongside Miomir and me fought for Youth Empowerment. And we were great! The other people were fabulous too, Kirsty from Scotland, Karl from Sweden and Ludmila from Ukraine to name the few. Everyone was fascinating, we had bursts of energy everywhere! We saw the Universal Studios theme park and had fun on rollercoster rides, which is one of the best experiences of my life! And not to mention walking through the streets of Hollywood… Enzaldos, the Mexican family who hosted me and Aleksa, were awesome too! I miss everyone, and hope to see some of them, if not all, on this Summit as well. But I’m also looking forward to meeting gorgeous new people as well, and hopefully they’ll have a friend in me.

We are very excited about the Summit in Serbia. After the beautiful pictures of Belgrade that Miomir showed us, I can’t wait to see the city in person! And I’m very eager to see again Summit family members from 2006 and 2007; as well as meet new friends. There’s so much that young people, using media, can do to effect the future – and it is such a joy to me to watch them, fired with energy and passion, create their films and continue their connections around the globe!

Dear Friends old and new,
I can hardly believe we are now planning the 3rd IYMS! It is 6 years now since Evelyn and I first met in the dark days of early Sept 2001, immediately after 9/11. I know how hard Evelyn worked to make the first Summit a reality and at that time we would not have dared to dream of an annual event …… but we did not take into account all the wonderful people we would meet through IYMS! Vahid made IYMS 2 a reality in Sydney and now Miomir will do the same in Belgrade in 2008!
Other collaborations have also happened as a result …. Northern Ireland organised one in Eire and Scotland, USA, Sweden and N I took part and later I was able to take a group to Belgrade to Miomir’s summer school.
What a great time we have had at all the events. The youth delegates have worked so hard on their productions but making international friendships was so easy for them all.
Belgrade is a wonderfully friendly, safe city and Miomir is a warm and gracious host. IYMS 2008 is off to a great start!

I’m coordinator of a project titled Youth media in BiH, existing from ’99. I’m working closely with a group of young talented journalists who want to join their forces in project called “Youth press agency Bosnia and Herzegovina”. The idea of exchanging experiences and talking to people with similar interest sounds very interesting. We would be more than happy to take part at this conference. Kindly email me further details.

I am really keen on hearing that such events are organized for youth…
I do voluntary work in the NGO “NATYRA” witch is one of the well known NGO’s in Macedonia. We usually work on topics like Violence, Racisem, Living on a multicultural society, ecology ect.But I really would like to have some new experience and the 3rd International Youth Media Summit is the perfect opportunity for me.

Hello! I am new at this, we are Rosario Trade Union, we work with young people and young workers and I am very much interested in this media summit since we work with videos and medias in general.
I am a union representative, I am 24 years old and I work for an American outsourcing call center here in Rosario, Argentina. We use videos to denounce what’s going on inside our call center, violence against workers and political persecution.

Thanks for the announcement on the 3rd International Youth Media summit.My name is Mohamed Sillah Sesay,the national Coordinator for and advocacy youth organization based in Sierra Loene(Young Leaders Sierra Leone Organization.We have interest in the summit but however,you dont normally pay much attention to our requests from this part of the world.

So therefore I want to know if a special concession would be given to youths from here to attend the event and if so what are the requirements?

Mohamed (Sierra Leone), I am sorry you think we don’t normally pay much attention to your part of the world. Sierra Leone is already part of our Summit Family & was part of the 1st IYMS. You have no idea how hard Evelyn tried to have them in Sydney too! We welcome applications from all continents and hope Africa can be well represented in Belgrade.
